Jerry "Golden Boy" Trimble
The International kickboxing media once called him the flashiest fighter and fastest kicker in the sport of kickboxing. (Trimble's`hook-kick' was clocked at 118 MPH)
His ring notoriety gained him world recognition with his flamboyant style of fighting and lightning fast jump spinning kicks that would always guarantee Trimble the crowd favorite.
Trimble heads into battle with trainer, Tony Mullinax.
After seeing Bruce Lee in Chinese Connection Trimble was inspired to learn the martial arts. When he was unable to join a dojo, Trimble went to the magazine store and purchased every martial arts magazine there was and for the first part of his training it was via the magazine master.
Months later, Trimble enrolled into a school and began studying Taekwon-Do from Richard Hamilton in Newport Kentucky. He trained six days a week, four to six hours a day.
In only eighteen months Trimble earned the rank of first-degree black belt.
Four months later, he began competing in tournaments around the country, winning championships in fighting and forms competition.
Jerry Trimble currently holds the rank of 6th Dan black belt awarded to him by 8th Dan, Dennis Donofrio.
Once again, Trimble was inspired when he saw a kickboxing match on NBC, against Howard Jackson and Richard Jackson.
Trimble decided to implement boxing into his arsenal and began training with The Shamrock Gym's, Terry O'Brien.
On June 6, 1980, in his first fight, Trimble TKO'd AAU Champion, Tommy Marshall, in the fourth round for the Kentucky State Kickboxing Championship. He found his new calling. Trimble happily gave notice to his day job at Kroger's warehouse, said goodbye to his family and friends and moved to Atlanta Georgia, in pursuit of the World Championship.

Trimble takes out Anthony Thompson for the Georgia State Championship.
Trimble wins again.
Trimble joins the team of promoter Joe Corley, trainers, Asa Gordon and Tony Mullinax.

Jerry Trimble has thrown down the gauntlet. The flashy Atlanta lightweight let it be known the first time he stepped into the ring as a professional that he was championship material - might have been a mistake.
Trimble is having to travel to some pretty remote areas to further his professional fighting career because trainers, Asa Gordon and Tony Mullinax can't find a contender who will fight him.
So, Trimble is going to the boondocks, and he's doing it with a new nickname - "Golden Boy."
How many fighters out there would like to mess up a guy who runs a beauty salon and calls himself Golden Boy? Trimble probably will find out quickly enough.

He shifts from one foot to the other, shaking his legs in a blur of motion, and at his side his fists are doing the same thing, while he does this nervous shaking and twisting of his head. I've seen girls at the nightclubs doing the "Trimble Tremble"...it's a classic."

Trimble turns down offers to pose in Playgirl magazine.

Six weeks after suffering from a broken collarbone, Trimble went on to defeat Robert Visitacion for the Southeast lightweight Championship.
Trimble sets a first in the sport of kickboxing.
Following the defeat of 4th ranked world contender, Mark Gurley, for the second time against Trimble, Gurley's camp protested that Trimble was on strength enhancing drugs. Trimble complied readily and urinalysis and other drug tests cleared him of any possible drug use.

With his hands at his side, Trimble methodically picked apart Rosser in every round. Trimble would hit Rosser almost at will.
Rosser's pre fight comments: "Jerry Trimble's a legend in his own mind, if he thinks he can come in here and beat the International Tiger, he's got another thing coming. I'm going to knock Jerry Trimble out.
And as they say...the rest is history. This will go down as one of the greatest fights ever.
